Solvent to clean head gasket off block
Is there any type of solvent like isopropyl alcohol or something like that I can use to make sure I get all the old head gasket material off the block? I've scrapped most of it off with a plastic scraper and/or my finger nail, but would like to make sure it's as clean as possible. I'm very hesitant to use a razor blade for fear of nicking the block.
Thanks for the help!

Go to autozone or similar and pick up a spray can of gasket remover, spray it on, let it soak an hour or two, then scrape. Works quite well, but you may have to apply it twice depending on how much material you are dealing with.

The best type is CRC spary lube IMO, works like a charm and won't strip the oil off the cyl walls. Don't be scared to razor the block.

Just use BrakeClean on it and it will be fine. You do not have to get every bit of graphite off the surface. Just scrape it with a razor blade and wipe it down with BrakeClean.
