Default Valve train tapping

Ill make this short I was racing a 300zx twin turbo when i missed my shift form 3rd to 4th The motor banged off the rev limter and then shut off, when I restarted the car it hand an loud tapping sound comeing from the heads. It was very loud , I went home then started it after about 7 hours, the tapping sound does not start until the motor is warmed up and is not as loud as when it first happen. Could somebody please give infor on what is going on, to me it sounds like it could be the roll tappet or maybe the rocker arm? thanks for the help

Sounds more like a spun bearing. If you had something bent like a pushrod the noise wouldnt be any different if the car was hot or cold. Also could be partialy colapsed lifter, its hard to say with out hearing it. Start taking her apart and let us know what you find.
