6.0 oil pump

6.0 oil pump have an 03 chevy 2500 hd. lost oil pressure. confirmed problem, removed pan & pressurizedsystem at o/pressure sending unit port with no leaks. replacing pump. procedure says requires special tool for lining up oil pump & timing cover. any way around buying these tools.
Lining up the oil pump is just a matter of bolting it to the block. The Chilton's manual I had told me to mount the pan and cover loose, use a feeler gauge and gave me clearance's. I just left the front and rear cover's loose, tourqued the oil pan then tightened the front and rear covers. Of course I did this with the engine on a stand. I would say you should be able to do the same, just leave the front cover loose, tourque the oil pan then the front cover. Also you should put a bit of silicone at each corner of the pan where it meets the front and rear covers. I did it that way and have had no problems. Good luck!!!!
