Default rods

a car i just bought has a broken rod. i dont know much about the internal engine, so would i need to replace the whole block or can i just buy a rod to replace it?

broken rod "usually" means R.I.P. for that motor.....

when the rod brakes, AT MINIMUM it usually rips up that cylinder bore.....it can also push the piston into the head (damage the head and destroy valves).....finally it can hit the crank and damage it...
