Default Rod Bearing?

Im have to change the rod bearings and i'm down to it, but I have a question about how to get this rod bearing out. It has the two bolts on the bottom but it all looks like it is one piece and not like all the other ones i've ever done. Has anyone else ran into this? just need some advice. Thanx in advance.

Take the 2 bolts out and youll probably need a small hammer to seperate the cap and rod. Its 2 pieces right in the center of the circle. It supposed to look like one piece when its together. Its called a "cracked cap" .

..the cracked rod is forged from a single piece of metal and is machined to size and then cracked in half...this keeps the rod in an almost perfect circle... ...most modern engines have cracked rods now; I think...

oh yeh, one other point....obviously, the cracked caps must be re-installed on the same rods as they were made from...in the same direction....therefore, mark these carefully before removing them...

Default Re: Rod Bearing?

Thanx everybody. I figured it out I went ahead and tried it and saw they came out. Once I got the bolts loosened I saw the seam. Looks like My oil pump had been cutting in and out, cause the bottom of the bearing was the only thing scored. Since thats the last place the oil will run to on the bearing. Although my gauge never fluctuated, never did drop below 40p.s.i.
