Default 1st LS1 Build Carbed

1st Post be gentle,

I need some opinion's

Im building a Ls1 from a 04 GTO that I will be installing into a 67 Camaro . The Engine will have ported 241 heads flowing hopefully around 270 - 280 CFM, Stock compression, stock bottom end,and a Vic Jr. Intake with a 850 Quick Fuel carb. The transmission is a 5 speed Tremec with a 4:30 Gear.

I have built several succesfull small block Chevys that have run very well. The majority of the motors I have built have had similar parts as the LS1 I am planning to build ( same CFM flow on heads, Similar intake, Same Carb and headers)

I am very confused at how small all the camshafts are and how low the Ignition timing is (less than 28). I understand that a LS1 was built to be Fuel Injected therefore a small camshaft with very little overlap. As far as the Ignition timing, the LS1 has a very Efficeint combustion chamber which leads me to believe why only 28 degrees of timing.

Drive abilty is not a issue the car is a toy.

04 Gto motor

Vic Jr Intake with 850 Carb
600 lift , 240 ish duration at .050 / 110 separation Cam w/ matching springs
MSD 6010 box
Ported 241 heads flowing 270 CfM
5 speed Tremec
4.30 gear
long tube 1 7/8 headers
67 Camaro 3100 LBS

The LS ports and combustion chambers are waaay more efficient than the earlier GEN I or II motors. The more efficient they are the less duration, overlap, and timing you need (or can stand).
