Default 406ci LS1??

So I have read alittle about it, but I have yet to find anyone that has done it. I know ALOT of people have done 408s out of the LQ9 or LQ4 blocks, but I just want to stick with the LS1, and doing something not that common, seems more my route than just another run of the mill deal.

I know I could search this alittle more, but I am at work, and the connection wont allow the search to work, it blocks it, like a pop up.. Sorry.

But if anyone has any info on this, I am REALLY interested in starting this as my "new setup"

well honestly to do something like that you will have to have your ls1 block resleeved which is very expensive...hence the reason you dont see it happening. Instead you can just get a ls2 based 402 for cheaper and call it a day. Also if you were gonna have your block resleeved you might as well go much bigger then 406 ci since it would cost alot anyway

I think the 4.250 crank will fit, with alittle machining of the bottom of the sleeves, not resleeving it, that is why I am asking. I ofcourse HATE my 3.89 bore, but I wouldnt mind getting all the cubes I could out of this little LS1 without having to move to either the LS2 or an iron block.. The idea here is to make the most out of what I currently have.

Now I know the 383 kits are out there, and I have heard good things, but I am looking to get alway from the "Norm"

Thanks for your advice.

the biggest i have seen from a stock ls1 block without resleeving is a 396ci, i honestly dont think you can go any bigger otherwise i think you have to much stroke which will cause problems..not to mention it would be a very oversquare motor which usually wouldn't have the best results, good luck though it would be interesting to see

Here let me explain....
I have a magic 8 ball on my desk. When someones asks a question I pick up the 8 ball.... for this one I chanted Oh magic 8 ball can you stuff a 4.250 crank into a ls1...

Shake the ball and roll it over and it says
" Yes but its not a street build"
