Default 98 ws6 rod bolt question?

i had a friend telling me that the rod bolts in the first year ls1's had a tendency to strip out if u started running the car hard. im looking at a 98 ws6 with a 140,000 miles. need some opinions

My T/A started knocking... I normally only twisted it to 6500 with heads and a cam and was out tuning on it one night after a fuel pump install and I twisted it up to 7K a couple times and the next mourning it started knocking.. So yes they do suck and I'm still not sure if mine was a rod bolt issue or just a bearing failure issue but if I was a betting man I would say I stretched a rod bolt or something similar... btw my 98 T/A had 110K miles.
