Default tsp 383 rotating assembly

i would like to try this build, im a "do it yourself" kinda guy.... aaannnnddd this is my first rotating assembly to build. i have done alot of head and cam work on my other cars that i have owned. i want to step it up. and the motor has 150k on it now, so it needs a rebuild BAD.

current mods ms4 cam, ls6 heads, and bolt ons

what all needs to happen? are the pistons the same size or do the cylinders need to be wider? what pistons will i need so the valves wont hit the heads?

what reluctor tooth wheel would i need for a 99 ta m6

alright, well it looks like the stock bore size is 3.898" and the pistons that come with the kit are 3.905'' i believe there needs to be a clearance of .003" to .005" between the cylinder wall and the piston. so you would have to open the bore anywhere from 3.908 to 3.910".

does this look right?

usually the pistons are smaller than the bore size spec'd. Usually a machinist measures them at the skirt and hones to achieve proper clearance in the bore

alright so my best bet would be to order the kit, and take one of the pistons to the machine shop. but after looking at tsp website, i might go for there 427.

24 tooth reluctor wheel. I have -7cc dish pistons w/ TSP LS6 st.2.5 heads and custom grind cam. Performs badass. with this setup i still have a 10:8 CR

Correct, the 3.905 spec on the piston will be a close approximation of the bore on the cylinders. The pistons are measured 90º from the pin on the skirt, and then you add the piston/wall clearance desired, and bore to that spec.

Diamond offers 3.905" and Wiseco makes 3.903" and 3.905" pistons for this application which we offer in our rotating assemblies. Let us know if we can help!
