block machine work... Tossing around the idea of stroking the camaro. Just wanted to know what work will need to be done on my ls1 block with about 40k on it. Hone, line bore, deck, new cam bearings, cleaning??? Any ideas on price?
If it's goin to the machine shop then all new bearings are the only option. What are you tryin to take it to? Only way to actually stroke a LS1 block is to get a 4" crank & go 383 otherwise your just getting a clean up hone & will be a 347 set-up.
Anything over 383 & your at least lookin at a LS2 block set-up.

Just looking for a 383.... Last cam install I did the cam bearings were showing the copper on the bottoms. So the only thing I would need done is just a clean and a hone?
You'll want a line hone if you go with main studs, but if you stay with the TTY bolts it just need to be checked at the very minimum.
REMOVE THE F'ING CAM BEARINGS. After all the machine work is done, debris can get trapped behind the cam bearings and cause a really bad day once the motor is fired up.
Deck surfaces are gonne get cut to set the proper quench as well. Obviously, the cylinders get honed as well. Boring is only done to take out a lot of material, so that's not gonna happen to go from 3.898" to 3.905".

Yep, you would want to order a set or 3.905" bore pistons, run a 6.125" rod (I'd suggest with ARP 2000 bolts) & a 4" crank. you will need to clearance the windage tray(also believe you'll have to slightly bend the pick-up tube) & I believe a small area on the block for rod clearance with the larger crank. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
