7deg. vs. 10deg. locks ??
What are you guys running? I know the patroit kit comes with there super 7's only but i think if your gonna upgrade the valvetrain to go with 10deg. locks. When i was doing the valvetrain on my lt1 i had both sets and the 10deg. locks were soo much thicker then the 7's. Do you know if i can get the patroit with 10deg. locks? If not ill get new 918 springs with the 10deg. ti retainers and locks.
honestly i dont think i have ever heard of someone having a problem caused by 7* locks. The only way i could see it being a problem is if you have a very serious spring with over like 450 or 500# of open pressure, and a cam thats pushing that spring to the max.I would say do the 10 if you can easily find them and they are much more money, because it wont hurt, but if not just get the 7* locks and not worry about it anyways.Thats just my opinion i could be wrong
I talked to Carry @ ETP when I had my heads done and have used 10* locks for years. The spring pressures where over 400lbs and up for the rpm I was running at the time. With the metals and technology today, and the spring diameters, the 7* is more than adequate. I spin over 7000 rpm regularly for 3 years with no problems. I was skeptical, but Carry was right.
