I have a 99 LS1 block that I just mounted an LS1 T56 trans to. I couldn't get the last 1/2" because of the starter. I took it off and it's now bolted up fine.

I know you sometimes have to shim the starter, but it looks like I will need to move it down a good 3/8".. not a couple of thousandths.

Here is a pic of the starter in question. Is this the right one and does anyone have some input?
