Engine noise *video inside*
Engine noise *video inside* I purchased a 2000 SS for cheap and it has a 5.3L engine swap in it. When I bought it there was no oil getting to the top of the engine. Checked the oil and it turned out there was gear oil in there. Let the oil drain for a week and did a oil change with mobil 1 5w30. After the first cold start it was idling around 2k with oil pressure of 40psi. As the rpm's came down to around 1k, the oil pressure dropped to around 10psi. After remving the head covers it is getting oil but there still seems to be a little of the old gear oil in there. Is there a bigger issue than possibly doing another oil change to hopefully get rest of the gear oil out of the engine? Here is what noise the engine makes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CuWuYK8JMI

Well I didn't get it "that" cheap. I brought my mechanic with me to look at it before I bought it. He thought it would be an easy fix. Maybe an oil sending unit or possibly a new oil pump. More thoughts on what might be wrong would be great!!

couple of things:
Why are you videoing the tailpipes if you want us to hear engine noise?
Get a better video with the camera moving around the engine compartment.
I am very surprised that you brought your mechanic and he didn't check the oil?
A little gear oil isn't going to give you low pressure or make noise.
Anyone who would put gear oil in the engine to cover up the noise or try to build pressure is not a person you should be buying a car from - can you return it? (BTW in most states that's fraud).
