Default LQ4 build help

my friend and i are getting some lq4 stock longblocks and were looking into building them up. So some questions to start off with whats the largest and fastest cam that i could put in it, next off i hear they come with 317 heads should i just get these ported and polished with new valves and whatnots or what should be done to them ? Don't want to change anything in the bottom end but we do want to get the compression up so if you have any info on what we could do to these without to much modifictions but get the most power let me know thanks ! !

do like i did, find a set of 243's or 799's and that will give you some compression and cut them .040 and put .040 cometic head gaskets on them you'll have 11.3 but if you put a real big cam in it you'll have to fly cut the pistons....and you can sale your 317's to recover some of your money.i went with the polluter cam from tick performance will have track times soon.
