Default Complicated swap question

I am looking to swap a L33 into a project car.

The question is what do I need to get this to run and not have codes from the stock computer shutting it down or creating gremlins. Is there a re-flash or re-tune to take out everything I do not want. I am not using the tranny so it is only engine management and functional control that I am worried about. I am getting the motor from a 2005 Silverado crew with the harness and computer. I plan to add 1999 Corvette BBK headers and a mild cam 216/220 525/.532 114. For my application I will need to change the oil pan and engine mounts as well. The car will not have traction control, power brakes, ABS or power steering. It will have power windows/locks and A/C.

From my understanding the L33 is the poor mans LS6. It comes with 799 or 243 heads, is aluminum, and has flat top pistons with a 10-1 ratio (correct me if I am wrong). Stock with 91-octane tune was 335hp. With a baby cam, a LS6 intake and shorty headers I should get close to 400hp crank, does that seem about right? It is going into a car weighing about 2300lbs.

What do I need to do to put this into my project?

If your looking to tune on your own check out Hptuners.

If your not than check with some sponsors about doing a mail order tune.
That should get you close so you can get dyno/street tuned.

btw. what's it going into?

Sounds like a GTM to me. I'm working on my second one now, but never done a L33.

You are right, GTM it is. Would you recommend a stand alone ECU and if so which one?

Definately go stand alone. There are so many to choose from its hard to say. Painless seems to be the most popular in our shop. Just install their cam, and the tune should be perfect. It also eliminates the maf, iat, rear O2 sensors, and some other not needed sensors. It can be programmed for a custom tune if you want that done also.

The first GTM we built is a LS7 that I just pulled the heads off of yesterday. The other one in progress is a LS2. We have to change all the accessories on the front of the motor and the oil pan. You have to have a pan with the sump in the rear. There isn't much clearance to the chassis in the front.
