Complicated swap question
The question is what do I need to get this to run and not have codes from the stock computer shutting it down or creating gremlins. Is there a re-flash or re-tune to take out everything I do not want. I am not using the tranny so it is only engine management and functional control that I am worried about. I am getting the motor from a 2005 Silverado crew with the harness and computer. I plan to add 1999 Corvette BBK headers and a mild cam 216/220 525/.532 114. For my application I will need to change the oil pan and engine mounts as well. The car will not have traction control, power brakes, ABS or power steering. It will have power windows/locks and A/C.
From my understanding the L33 is the poor mans LS6. It comes with 799 or 243 heads, is aluminum, and has flat top pistons with a 10-1 ratio (correct me if I am wrong). Stock with 91-octane tune was 335hp. With a baby cam, a LS6 intake and shorty headers I should get close to 400hp crank, does that seem about right? It is going into a car weighing about 2300lbs.
What do I need to do to put this into my project?
If your not than check with some sponsors about doing a mail order tune.
That should get you close so you can get dyno/street tuned.
btw. what's it going into?
The first GTM we built is a LS7 that I just pulled the heads off of yesterday. The other one in progress is a LS2. We have to change all the accessories on the front of the motor and the oil pan. You have to have a pan with the sump in the rear. There isn't much clearance to the chassis in the front.
