I'm doing the same thing, mine was a nice soft ticking like uls1a's, drove me nuts! I got an .040 gasket with all the applicable bolts and gaskets, ls7 lifters, and new pushrods today. I figured while I was in there I would try a new cam.

I'm installing my new lifters tomorrow.

I chased that sound lifter/rocker tapping for 4 weeks.Ended up being one of my new Comp 26918' springs one was shorter .0018 than the rest.ordered just one.Arrived two days later put it all back together and HOT DAMN.iT DOUSENT TICK ANY MORE!!!

here are some piston pics

well here are the odd guys. first up number 7

number 3 and 1 have some crap in them. it fell in when i was wrestling the head off. i'm going to get a vacuum and clean it up.

only one or two of the bolts on this side was wet. unlike the other side where they were almost all wet.

are you sure your ls1 is making lifter noise, and your not just mistaking it for the very common piston slap most of us have? ^^

My car has a unknown cam, full exhaust and other mods but it sounds very similar to this.

I got my car back up and running yesterday. I had a lifter tap and replaced the lifters with the LS7 lifters, Comp Cam 7.4" chromemoly pushrods and replaced both belts. Tapping is gone and runs great. Only problem I have no is I have a P0107 code.....MAP sensor so I gotta take the manifold off again
