Default Have an issue with my LS1, and a few questions!

Hows it going guys ive been on here but havent done much posting or anything just kinda read up on stuff. Im the owner of a 99 Z28 LS1 Six speed the car has 26,000 miles on it, and beginning of this past summer i started to here a little tick sometimes its there sometimes its not I have had buddies listen to the car also, and we have came up with the conclusion that I think I maybe have a faulty lifter at 26,000 miles. I mean I could see how its happening maybe the lifter has lost its prime from lack of use maybe. What do you guys think???

Well Im also looking to put a few more mods on the car currently its just has cat back exhaust/ pro 5.0 Short shifter/ and a lid, car runs good i just need to have more I would like to put the car into mid 12s and I would be content for now, what are some basic mods I could do to get me there easy. I know its not going to take a whole lot to do it the car turned a 13.40 on street tires the way it sits right now! Any input would be great I know some long tube headers is what most are probably gonna say would be a good start!

IMO the ticking is pretty common with ls cars and trucks depending on how loud of course.

could be the very common piston slap our gen3/4 motors have. our cars also have noisty injectors and valvetrain. a valvetrain problem is more of a knock sound than a tick

Thanks for the input guys ya i have been browsing the header selections out there im not sure what to go with yet i like the kooks but they are alot of cash, and i have already located the ls6 intake, what kind of gaskets you guys prefer when re assembling after i were to pull the intake!

Also on the noise im hearing I guess I never thought it could be a injector maybe I will pull them all off and clean them, I would be very upset I should say if the car had piston slap at 26,xxx miles on it. Will see what I find out here!

Some of these engines have piston slap from the factory but most folks don't worry too much about it. If it is piston slap it should go away after the engine warms up.

^^^yup, if piston slap, the tick should go away when the engine warms up and the pistons expand to the bores
