Default Spark plug change intervals

For those of you that have taken to heart the 100k life plugs, how much trouble did you have pulling these plugs? I've had the itch recently just to pull mine, coat the threads in anti-seize and drop them back in just to be safe. Am I just being overly nervous? I'm only at 34k miles on my 2004 GTO.

I would never run a spark plug for 100k. Why not spend $20 and get some ngk's and put some anti seize on.

exactly, thats some dumb political **** from the auto makers claiming their motors can go 100k before a tune up. so the idiot with the 30+ Gs to spend feels all warm and fuzzy inside knowing he will have sold it long before it comes time to have someone work on it. i personally like to swap mine once a year. wires every other time unless something is obviously wrong with them (broken, melted or car not running good)

If those are iridium plugs then they will last 5 times longer than a standard NGK. However, I personally would change iridium plugs every 30K or once every three years (whichever comes first). If you decide to change, try WeaponX zero resistance iridium plugs from 99BlancoSS (Forum sponsor). I've tried alot of different plugs, including modifying NGK's. The WeaponX plug has performed the best thus far. This is why they are in my car. Otherwise, it would be a modified NGK for me. BlancoSS also has NGK's. Regardless of what you decide, coating w/never sieze is always a good idea. Good-luck

Note to readers: Don't want a spark is spark flame war from post readers. My car uses parts that I've personally tested, where applicable. Choose whatever product you believe is best for your car, as I have done. It's as simple as that.

I change mine when I change my oil, every 1500-2500 miles. They get pulled every week during race season. If they look good they go back in until I change the oil.

A/C DELCO IRIDIUMS are the best plug....thats why GM uses them...EVEN IN THE ZR1. I change mine every 25k or so, and they look fine..I have a few dozen that look as good as some new plugs out there...

I've pulled NGK coppers out after two years, over 30k miles, and they still looked great.

I run NGK copper plugs and change them every 25k. I also pull them to take a look about every 6 months since traffic and a big cam really kills my plugs. Now my car is far from stock, but if it was stock I would still check them at those intervals.

pulled the plugs in my lt1 and my ls1 at around 50K miles.

both cars had 4 of the 8 plugs missing the platnum puck. so the gap was something like .080"

ngk's are in it now...planning to change them at 75K miles...which is about 20k on the plugs. that will set me up for a nice 25K mile routine.

I have just over 100K on stock plugs. I am changing them out soon, going to use stock again. So far they seem ok, only notice a slight, slight, slight starting hesitation when its really cold. And idle is slightly, slightly rougher.

Good luck getting them out at that mileage. They should be fine as long as you go slow.
