first off, https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...cam-guide.html

if you do a cam..

you need at minimum..

1. springs (your cam size (lift) will decide what kind you need as a minimum req.)
2. pushrods (just hardened probably 7.4s)
3. ls2 timing chain
4. ls6 oil pump
5. if you an a4, you need a stall... if you dont have the money for one now, do it instead of the cam, then when you have the money do the cam.. if your an m6 i would recommend gears, but not a must..
6. depending on your setup, you may need a tune.. base or dyno is up to you..

things that are highly recommended when doing a cam swap..

1. LT's with either a cutout, or a nice exhaust setup..
2. Lid..
3. ls6 intake, or FAST if you want to be set in the long run..

its m6 so we are good on that.. i have pacsetter short tubes though..i have a lid i have a ls6 intake. n i was looking at a dual chain timming chain for like 99 bucks. never thought about the oil pump great idea. i would probably buy an slp one. now how big would i be able to go on like stock internals. my brothers going to dyno his cummins so ill ask how much for a tune up while im there. what do u think of those timming twisters do those work good with big cam..

id try to pick up at LEAST some mids if i were you.. shorties are a waste of money.. if you can grab some LT's.. even used if you have to.. grab a cutout for like 35 bucks while your at it.

your set on your intake/lid..

just get an ls2 timing chain (IIRC, 50$).. you would be wasting your money going with the dual... trust me.
oil pump is a must..
you can get on texas-speed.com and get both those.

DO NOT buy SLP..

FWIW, i run an ms4 PRCls6 heads, ported 90/90 FAST, full exhaust, yada yada yada... i am still stock internals.. only things i upgraded was what i told you.. timing chain to an ls2, oil pump to an ls6, pushrods to hardened, and springs to dual.. i have had this setup for 10k+ hard miles.. no problems thus far..

i would at the minimum get a base tune.. most tuners will do it for around 60-75$..

well then your exhaust and intake both are decent enough that you are ready for a cam..

now you need to work on your transmission.. you need an ls6 clutch at minimum, and im not an m6 guy so im not going to comment too much on that cause im not 100% sure, but you WILL want to get some better parts..

you can keep cutouts, or do bullets.. just remember you cant quiet it down and bullets are LOUD! especially with a cam.. if its a DD make sure you can handle it (most cant).. if it were me, i would do X-pipe with some knock off 1 chambers FM's.. the knock offs 1 chambers are like 35 a piece..

lmao, that is a VERY broad question.. and cant be answer easily..

few things to give you a more accurate answer, but certainly not exact..

what do you want HP, E/T out of the car..
what kind of heads are you going with down the road..
is it a DD..
do you have a good tuner?
do you want more off the line, up top, mid range..

there are tons more things to consider, but this will narrow your search window down to about a 1/4 the size..

DD= Daily Driver.. (something you drive all the time).... with 28k miles on yours, i doubt its a DD..

low 11s with a mid range cam, small gears, ls6 intake, etc.. is not going to happen.. with heads it is very possible..

sounds like you would be interested in some of these cams.. each will have great midrange power and will start pulling very quick.. very street friendly, and easily tuned..
these first two are some top choices for what you are looking for.. with the 228r being the top picked (im not a huge fan myself)

if it were me, this is the one i would go with for your setup.. will make good power, sound very good and you always want to go a tad bigger than you think you do, cause you will ALWAYS wish you went bigger..

i have an ms4, so yes i like big cams..

yes it matters a LOT.. if it were me, regardless of the cam i PERSONALLY would buy dual springs.. its just an added precaution and cant hurt.. its not too much more.. do it once, do it right.
leave stock rockers on..
pushrods.. just get some hardened pushrods from TSP.. they are like 95$ or something.. i believe you will need a 7.4.. call and talk to matt or jon at TSP though they will set you up right..
