i think you have to lower the engine and pull the engine off of its mounts since the k-member is too close to the pan but i could be mistaken? but as you can tell, the lifter trays are closed in so i dont see how a pushrod could just slip through and go anywhere! and just assuming it did-SOMETHING has got to be messed up to cause that. but as for the power steering pump, very hard and time consuming but with a wrench you can turn each of the two bolts a little bit with the pulley on but i only did this because i did not have a pulley puller. but if you get the pulley off. it is two (regular thread) bolts holding the pump on. once its off tie it up to something and you should be set. no need to pull the braket off unless you want to clean or paint it. and that is only 3 (regular thread) bolts.

i just took the whole pump off with the head.. but as far as that missing pushrod goes.. the trays are intact. like i said the lifter is fine! i have NO idea how it could have gone anywhere. what are the stock pushrods made of? are they chromemoly? is it possible for them to shatter or disintegrate? or do they just bend and break? i'm stumped!

The stock pushrods will bend and or break. They will not disappear. Somebody has taken it out if its indeed gone. You have probably been driving it on 7 cylinders forever. Previous owner forgot to put. bent one back in before he decided to sell the car? But that woulnt explain why you are just now getting a misfire code. Are you telling the whole story, or did you forget something? If the engine did indeed eat the pushrod, bigger problems will soon arise.

i understand your theory. but i'm not an idiot. i know what a misfire sounds and feels like.

but i did find that pushrod!! yay! apparently it fell out onto the ground when i took the head off! because of all the oil dry i didnt hear it hit. but it is broken into 2 pieces! i have them both though
