Default Crank rotation

Looking for some clarifacation...
With #1 at TDC, rotating the crank clockwise, looking at the front, the exhaust valve opens 1st when moving off TDC. I'm trying to make sure I'm on #1 and not #6.

I'm making sure I'm on cam base circle ...to set valve wipe and pushrod length..

Thanks

it does not matter about what is where as long as the cam is on the base cirlce. the easiest way is on the compression stroke both valves will be closed. you are confusing timing with trying to check pushrods i think
