Default cubic inch ls1 questions

how do you gain ci by strokin a motor (not sure if thats right thats just what i was reading in a camaro mag) and how far over can u bore an ls1

In order to bore/stroke a motor you change the bottem end components. To stroke you would change crank/rods to desired stroke. In an LS1's case a 4.000" stroke and 3.905" bore is the most you can go safely. That will net you 383ci. You can't really bore an LS1.. you just hone the cylinders slightly.

Your stock crank has a 3.622" throw, which means your piston travels 3.622 inches down in the cylinder. By putting in a 4.000" (stroker) crank your piston now travels 4.000 inches down in your cylinder adding around 4.5 cubic inches of space in every cylinder.

you can bore the ls1 all you want as long as it has been sleeved properly. i have seen a guy do a 454 out of his ls1 !!
