Car Started Once, Wont Start Again
Well I started the car today and fired up... ran pretty damn rough for a very short period of time and then shut off. It didn't sound all that great, but it was hard to tell inside the car. I know it's getting gas, it has to be getting spark right, if it started once? I can log with efilive and it shows that the RPM's increase when trying to start, it shows timing... I'm all sorts of confused.
Do you think I bent up some valves, and that maybe my piston to valve clearance wasn't as wide as I thought? I pulled the passenger side valve cover and it doesn't appear any pushrods are messed up... all the rocker arms are where they should be. I'll get to the driver's side later and probably pull both heads tomorrow just to be sure.
Only code I have is p1637. Which I believe is alternator related. The car should still run even with this code, correct?
The other thing I changed over the winter was the PCM... went from a 98 to a 2000 and repinned it. I don't know if this could be the culprit being as the car DID indeed run for a few seconds. I'm thinking I destroyed some valves or something. Any insite would be greatly appreciated.
All fuses are good... my grounds seemed to be okay. I'm definitely lost. I did pull one spark plug and it doens't look like it's fouled or anything. Compression check will be coming tomorrow... I'll update the thread then. Unlucky Friday the 13th it would appear. Thanks to anybody that responds... and please don't bash on me too hard as I know I should have done the clay check in the first place... foolish. Thanks again.
