Arrow Coolant crossover question

Not sure what they're called but where can I get the 4 little round gaskets/seals that seals the coolant crossover piping to the motor? I heard they're like 30 bucks from the stealership and that some people just use silicone instead? What is the purpose of that piping anyway? prevent air pockets?
Thanks

What's this for anyway? Can I just use sealer instead? From what I remember it had a pretty snug seal when they went in.
