Default Solid roller lash setting

I have a LSX 427 solid roller motor and was wondering how you set your lash? Tight(go or no go, firm) where the filler gauge is hard to push in and pull out or soft (like cutting through butter). I've talked to several old school motor people and they all set there lashes tight. Thanks for your information.

Everyone does it a little different as far as how the feeler gauge should feel.

Personally, I want it to slide in and out with some resistance. That way I can get a feel for it and set them all the same.

The motor is a lot more responsive with a tight lash then loose. I just readjusted the lash to a tight setting and I'm going to put it back on the dyno and see if it makes more power up top.

Some resistance only because if you push hard enough you will slightly open the spring and get a false reading. Also when the motor heats up there might not be enough lash.

I set the lash fairly tight, but it is definetly a feel thing, and as long as they are all the consistent everything is good. Also, when the motor heats up there will be more lash because of the expansion of the block and heads.

Why would there be more lash when the block and heads heat up? I would think it would be just the opposite and everything tighten up.
