Old Man Cam - dyno results
<strong> We were hoping the new Comp dual springs that fit in the factory spring pockets would have been released, but they are still in testing.

<strong>You say these were LS1 heads right? Well were they stock LS1 heads or ported? </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Stock heads, never been off the car. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
<strong>
Regardless, you should replace the springs once a year with almost any aftermarket cam. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Really? Dang. Does that apply even if you go with the double springs? I'd prefer to spend some $ up front machining the heads to accept double springs if it meant I could just drive the car and not worry about wrenching on it every year.
If double springs won't do it, how much would you have to back off the lift/ramp rate to get a motor that you could just drive and change the oil on for 60,000 miles w/o any other maintenance?
Aside from that, this cam looks like just my speed
I have a B1 (221/221//.558/.558) cam with 26918s and the car is basically street driven only. When I do give it a WOT blast, I shift at or before 6400rpm, and I'm not using a power adder. I don't expect to have issues with these springs for 10s of thousands of miles and/or many years. I don't plan to check them or replace them as a regular wear item. I think that is unnecessary for my application. JIMO.
We pulled off a set of 918s from a customer's car when he went to a set of TEAs w/ dual springs. He had close to 15k miles on the springs and they only lost 3lbs on the seat. He could have gone another year on them easily.
BTW, this can is totally different from what SLP offers.

<strong> Sounds like the SLP 51011 cam, 214/222. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Actually its nothing like that cam.
<strong> I seriously may have to find out what this cam will do with a set of ported LS6 heads. Talk about stealthy! <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If you do that you will have to keep us informed on how well it works! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I have thought about that set up for a while, but I just don't have the $$$ to finance it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
How do the stock lifters hold up to a .600 lift? What replacements would you recommend?
I have never drag-raced my car, and I may only once in a great while. At the same time, I like the idea of having big-cam power without losing streetability.
Does this cam require any tuning on an A4?
