very doable and not difficult in the slightest, time consuming. and maybe nerve racking...surprisingly the oil pickup tube bolt was cake for me first time lol, i was doing mine in the winter, in my driveway with a tarp on the top of the motor and one under the car so i didnt have to lay in the snow! lol all is great, except with my torquer 3 setup i think the pushrods should be different than 7.4 i think it needs a tad bit longer one, i have very minimal noise but its still there, preload i think is dead on but maybe that is what i messed up

not sure about the tqr 3 . but mine is quiet as can be. Actually its quieter now than it has been in about a year and a half. Seems i had 3 bent pushrods(lmao) .gotta love the stock stuff. i think i might have been a lil to rough on it . but she oughta be good to go now.

I have not changed a cam or oil pump on a LS1 but I saw this tip on HPTV when swapping out the LSX oil pump. They did a light rebuild on a LQ-4 and changed out the OP. When they fired it up on the dyno - no oil pressure. They pinched the o-ring on the pick-up tube during reassembly. To lessen this possibility again, they elongated the forward bolt hole (on the pick-up tube) and enlarged the rearward hole. This allowed the tube center itself on the pump during installation without preloading the pick-up tube.

After doing these small mods full oil pressure again.

how long do you guys usually take it easy on a new cam install(break in time). i did about 3 heat cycles and drove somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 miles . So is it safe to run the **** out of it yet. PCM is going to be back here today or tomorrow (thanks again to Matt @ TSP for all of the help) its holding back and going easy but i dont wanna cause any premature wear.

thanks
