There are so many cam's to choose from man. lol I'm personally a fan of the TSP cams. A few of their cams that you would prolly be interested (as a DD, with good power, sound and for occasional track time) are the Torquer V.2, Torquer V.3, MS3, 233/239. I've got the Torquer V.2 sitting at my house right now, just waiting to get my Harland sharp rockers and timing chain...
Vengance racing has a few cams as well...and also look at Thunder Racing to see what they offer.

If you go halfway down the page of this link, it will show you the difference in lifts and durations compared to stock. It will also show you how to change the cam and etc. However, don't let it denture you from choosing a cam close to .600 lift, GM did not utilize the capabilities of the LS1's with the cams they put in stock. The LS1's are stout motors.

almost all cams form the sponsors are good it just depends on how much you can tolerate. I rode in a buddies car with a TR 230/236 and patriot 5.3 heads and it didnt seem bad at all. I based my cam decision on that and went with the MS3 239/242 .603 .609 112 lsa, most would say its a radical cam for a DD but it wouldnt bother me my car is my daily and has a 3800 stall and MT dr's, no backseat etc.
edit: mine is way bigger than all the cams they compared

I agree, a lobe separation of 114 will have a smoother idle. However, I'm a fan of a choppy idle...so...

Way too many good off the shelf cams out there. TR224 is a great all around cam from what I hear. I am doing 242/248 on 111 lsa though....not the best for DD lol. You could always get a custom spec cam also. Tell whoever (pat G, predator, ect ect) what you want, and they will get you.

Vengeance racing VRX cams. I'm getting VRX5 for a street car.

There are a million choices. Best advice I've gotten. Plan out your long term goals and choose accordingly. Heads in the future? Cam choice should reflect that

yeah im not to worried about sound and i love a choppy idle i got a 91 caprice with a 383 stroker that has a huge cam i love the way it sounds

i do wanna eventually put a nice set of heads and of course like a 100 shot of spray this is my first LSX so im just seein what all works for other people so when i go to do mine i will be happy with it

i mainly want a cam that has a steady hp and tourqe curve though out the rpm range not worried about gas mileage or how choppy it idles i just want it to beat the ford guys lol

I had my luck with a Futral F14, but the F13 is very popular as well.
