Default Head Swap question

Installed A set of PRC 2.5 5.3 on my 99 T/A install was i reused lifters and pushrods install was easy but i few days after swap i started getting some noise it is valvetrain belive to be lifter it is like a sewing machine i torgued rockers to 22ft lbs as indicated was wonder how to check preload or do i not need to preload

Best to check preload prior to installation with an adjustable pushrod. You can check preload with a dial indicator. Set the motor at TDC, back off #1 rocker, tighten so the slop is just out of the rocker (if you lift the tip it doesn't tick against the valve stem) set dial indicator on the rocker over the pushrod and in line with the pushrod, tighten to around 10 lb-ft and see how much preload you get.
