No cam retainer plate?

My buddy threw me for a loop. I'm putting the rear cover back on my new motor and he asked where it was? Either I'm missing this part or he is on crack. Just the cover, right?

There is no cover on the rear, the cam gear keeps it from walking out the back. Yea, he's on crack!!!!
