an aluminum block will never be as strong a comparably built iron block (I say comparably because you "could" make the iron blocks walls so thin that they crack...)......

now will you blow up an aluminum block? For 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 % of the people out there, they would be "going crazy/all out" if they even hit a 250 shot (myself included) on their LS1 so it's virtually impossible to hurt these blocks. Realize most of the "problems" that people have come from pistons cracking and destroying the cylinder walls. There are people around with 347s (0.005" bore on a stock aluminum block) that turn out 475-500 rwhp (~600 crank) and then put 200-250shot on top of that (we are talking 800+ HP and every day it seems someone decided to go for more).

The next step up is to wet sleeve the block and then I don't think you could brake the cylinder walls with C4 explosive let alone N2O.

in closing:

yes iron blocks are stronger but aluminum blocks are by no means weak
