Default Building an engine need advice

I am about to pick up an LS1 block and heads out of a 1998 firebird that was wrecked with about 800 miles on it.

I want to make it a strong engine with about 425whp. Do I need to go with forged crang and everything? or can I just go with forged rods and pistons?

What are some good parts that arent too expensive that I can go with?

Thanks
-Scott

A set of decent rods and pistons will be fine with out a power adder. You could go with Eagle rods and Mahle pistons for under 1k with rings and go from there. The stock crank will be just fine.
