Default TSP shortblocks?

Im looking for a 408 shortblock. Im going to be running some TFS 235 heads and a custom 246/254 cam. Im also planning on spraying around a 200 shot or a little more at some point. So basically, my questions are...

How are the TSP shortblocks? Its definitely the most affordable for me which is really important. Im also looking at SPEED inc which seems to be somewhat affordable and they are also close by to me.

What are some recommended Parts to go with? crank? Rods? Pistons?

This setup needs to be reliable and affordable. doesnt have to be the best setup around but I want it to take a beating. Im looking to spend not much more than 4k for a shortblock. My goals with this car are 550rwhp N/A and a high 10 1/4 mile.

2 things reliable and affordable are two words not often used together, at least not when talking about building a motor. 346/348 custom cam ?? Do you mean 246/248 custom cam. What lift are you looking at ??

You can be fast and affordable, but you won't be reliable.
You can be fast and reliable but it won't be affordable.

LOL, one of the vendor (I forget who) put that up before.
Fast = $
Reliable = $$
Fast and Reliable = $$$$

You see what I am getting at I hope.

I'm happy with my forged 347 from tsp. It's taken every thing I've thrown at it so far and I'm giving it some more this weekend. Great price and customer service.

It's an old saying: FAST, CHEAP, RELIABLE. Pick two.

LOL, mixing up cheap and affordable...nice. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!

Folks, price around your short-block next time you need one. We won't always be the least expensive; and I can tell you that because here and there we are asked to price match some of the "fast and reliable" companies

I have shopped around only for a long block. Havent found anyone to beat TSP yet. I was going to get a SB and build the top end but they have a special that comes out cheaper. Ill be ready in 5 weeks!!!! I havent heard many bad things about them on any of the forums. Ill know for sure when I call them in 3 weeks. I am also curious of what to make sure to beef up for a 408 Lq9 FAST 92/92 and for a 250 shot?

Currently in the market for an LS2 402. TSP has a good price, as do a few others in the sponsors sale section. I'll also check out Speed inc.,
