What effect does the cam have on emmissions?

What effect does the cam have on emmissions? And I'm not talking about the sniffer... because I found out today that all they do here in NC is a visual check for the cats and plug your computer into a diagnostic machine which checks for codes.
Does a big cam (eg- 230/230 on a 110lsa) throw a code because the O2 sensors go nuts? If the state doesn't car about raw gas pouring out my tailpipe, I want to find out if the car's computer does <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: What effect does the cam have on emmissions? A 230/230 on a 110 LSA is going to have a lot of overlap. This can do two things:
1) At idle (which would be interesting on a stock-cubed motor with this cam), the large overlap is going to cause a good chunk of diluted charge to go out the tail pipe. This will give you a nice rich smell and cause you to fail a sniffer test. But you aren't taking a sniffer test.
2) You will get misfire codes set without programing.
Any comments anyone else?

Well, before we all start debating the effects of a 230/230-110 in a stock engine, let me explain that those #'s were just something I pulled out of my *** as an example. I guess what I'm asking is if I should continue to only look at cams smaller then 224 and 114 that are known to barely pass the sniffer (B1, etc.), or if I can now think about larger cams because it still won't set off a code.
