Default Anyone know the coolant flow path, I think I have a problem

I have a front mount turbo kit installed and it was running hot when I was in traffic. I have a griffin radiator installed right now. I had the steam vent drilled and tapped into the thermostat housing. I thought that might be the problem so I bought a hypertech 160 stat and installed that and drilled and tapped the radiator for the steam vent.

Now, neither of the hoses are even warm with it running. Which way does the coolant flow to open the tstat? Does is it only flowing to the tstat internally to open it and then flow through the radiator? When I did the swap, I lost quite a bit of coolant out of the engine, but the radiator is filled and the temp gauge still works. Any chance I just have a bad tstat or did my water pump happen to take a dump or both at the same time?
