Default Cam choice.. opinions?

So I've done a lot of research and I've come up with this list of parts I am going to be ordering.

My goal with these mods is to start a decent setup for street and occasional strip, being able to pass emissions, while not breaking the bank and going overboard with the cam. I love the sound of a lopey idle, and found that and some great gains with the 228R.

TSP 228R 112° LSA
w/ Comp Cams 918 Springs & Hardened Chromoly Pushrods

Pacesetter Longtubes w/ catted y-pipe & cutout
TGK55 Plugs & MSD wires
LS6 Oil pump & LS2 timing chain

Can you guys tell me what you think about my choices in parts? And also I'd like to know..

Should I buy a pack of valve spring retainers too for the install? The stock ones work with the 918 springs correct? If so, where can I find some? All I see are titanium ones for outrageous prices.

Thanks!

id day go bigger but with emissions you cant... I would order the entie kit from TSP with the seals and seats and everything... its worth it to just refresh the valvetrain while your there. The oil pump an timing chain are good mods to do while your at it too

Will the 228R pass emissions? Sounds pretty healthy for an emissions friendly cam. Guess different states have different levels

Well, you don't need to get sniffed in MA anymore. They just plug in the cord and go. Unless I'm wrong and someone can correct me.. I meant to say pass inspection, hah. That's what the catted-y is for.

From what I read I will need to get the rear O2's tuned out, or get O2 sims. The car will just throw a code if I have no O2's there right? It won't run like crap or anything?

Don't forget the tune and yes you will pass if you get whatever you need tuned out since they don't sniff anymore. I passed in NC but I kept cats, EGR and AIR for the visual they do here....
