anyone know what a 5.3 would make horspower wise with the following?

ls6 intake
85mm tb
tsp 2.5 stage prc heads
1 7/8 longtubes
4 inch straight pipe
cam is 223/231 .610/.617 110lsa +2

(this is going to be my set up for my current ls1 car but i run my stuff hard too and i will probaly kill my engine eventually and have kicked around the idea of just picking up a spare 5.3 and have that to put all my parts on when the ls1 lets loose)

anyone have any idea what this set up would be like on a 5.3?

i wouldn't necessarily say that haha i was looking to do a turbo 5.3L build myself and did a ton of research and know a bit about them. as far as knowing approx. gains i honestly couldn't tell you. i see why they would make more power (lowered comp. ratio so you can run more boost) but i don't know actual gains. i do know parish8 gained 100hp on a 5.3 by witching to a zo6 cam over the stock cam at 8psi

stock 5.3(blue) cam vs a 2001 zo6 cam(red)

Cool. I was actually considering FI for this car. There are plenty of kits out there. I am just in debate over what to do with this car at the second.

317 heads are FE aren't they?

I don't think the the hyperteutic pistons would last long at all at 15+psi....under 10 it should hold together for a while........Very interested in what you do so keep us posted

really? I was under the impression that the diff between the 5,7 and 5,3 was bore size but had the same crank. Wouldn't this mean the smaller pistons would have more of a crown to keep the weight the same? I figured the 5,3 pistons would hold up better than run of the mill ls1s! But I can't say that a 5,3 is going to crank out more power.

I most definitely will keep everyone posted!

I'm still rounding up parts to complete the swap and unfortunately that is taking precious time away from me.

If anyone has a lead on these: cheap f-body oil pan (with pick up and baffles) a 99 f-body harness and ecu, let me know!.

The intake and Z06 manifolds are already here, waiting on the custom headers.
I have a handful of stuff on backorder and thats driving me nuts too!
