Flycutting Question
Flycutting Question Im researching flycutting for my upcoming head install and Ive run into a question. When using a spare head to flycut, does it have to be the same type of head that you are installing? For example I am going from stock LS1 heads to slightly milled and ported TEA 243s. Will the difference in heads affect the ptv checking and flycutting?

Milling is taking material off the face of the head where it bolts to the block making the valves that much closer to the pistons through their travels.
You need to somehow add the measurement of whats being milled off to what your flycutting and it should be clear.

Thats what I figured the situation would be. So lets take the actual situation as an example. If I pick up the said TEA 243s with .015 milled off of them and a 2.055 intake & 1.6 exhaust valve they will be fully assembled. I dont want to have to disassemble them than reassemble them in order to flycut, so I was going to disassemble one of the stock ls1 heads to do the cutting.
Can I cut w/ the ls1 head and original gasket than replace it with the TEA head to check clearance? Would the cut be in the correct area and correct depth for use witht he TEA heads? Since the TEAs are milled .015, would I take that off of whatever I cut using the LS1s?
