They drop the valve deeper into the chamber/seats to give more clearance. Or so I have read at least.

I am runnlng the ms3 stg 2,5's with ls6 intake/ported tb made 430rwh,i have done 3 power tours ,to dallas [8hrs] 1 way & back to tuning school, all over dallas f/w area.from 4ooorpm roll racing is no problem!it pulls very ! Hard in all gears.your running a stick so pick your stall.car now has fast 92/92 with 42# greentops looking for at least 460rwh after retune.ms3 is alot of fun but you do lose some down low.

I would go Tsunami, it is designed with new lobes to spread the power out, it will make a good curve especially with those heads. I have the MS3 with stg 2.5 5.3l heads and I couldn't be happier but I think the newer lobes would be better to have.

Hey KingSS can you explain how these new lobes spread the power out?

More aggressive ramp rates compared to older lobes bring the power in earlier. The aggressive ramp rates are what give you such a high lift. Don't get me wrong, a 224 cam is probably gonna come up with more torque earlier in the power band, but this setup would be very fun to drive especially on a weekend car and it will knock down some killer power IMO.

I just read all the post..Im in the same boat..I want a good cam for sound to play around at the track and street. Iv looked at the MS4..Thats what I seem to like but most here are saying go with the Tsunami Cam. Iv got Fast 92/92, LS6 Create basicly, 243 heads. I just want my car to sound mean now and run good..So is the MS4 a no go with my set up? Now down the road I might get a set of really nice heads but for now Ill stick with what I have.

On the MS3..if the car had a gear around 4.10s wouldnt that help out down low..Im so lost on a good cam..MS3, MS4,Tsunami, Had Pred Z spec me one..and its close to the MS4..

All these cams are going to be within a few rwhp of each other. I would go with the ms3 just because it doesnt have have such high lift on one side and will be a little easier on your springs

I enjoy my setup. I have 450rwhp and the torque that comes on soon. I truly get the best of both worlds. And my cam is a little 224/228. Dyno done at TSP.

See that made me think also..Ill be the first to say I dont know **** about cams really, I just thought it was odd on the MS4 that the lift on one side was a lot lower. Didnt know if it was hard on anything. If I was to go with a MS4 Cam Package with springs and such from TSP would that be ok as far as PVC and my #243s?

Something else I would think about is even if these cams do fit the ptv clearence will be tight. Dont want to miss a shift at 6500+ rpms. I would look around more before you get set on one particular cam.

Yes the ms4 is designed to clear with stock heads for ptv. Just get the prc springs rated for a .660 lift, oil pump if necessary, chromoly rods etc.

Yes ptv clearance is tight but missing a shift wont do anything unless by missing a shift you mean going to a lower gear like 4-3 or 3-2 etc. I spin my car to 6500 consistantly and have missed a few shifts, by that i mean just simply missing the gear, and thats what rev limiters were invented for. Unless you completely ignorant and keep the throttle to the floor when you miss a shift and you have the proper valve train upgrades, you have nothing to worry about. I noticed that on my car and maybe similar for other m6 cars that my tach was 200rpm slow in upper rpms and caused me to miss a lot of shifts. I noticed this after i got a shift light and that made a huge difference for only $60 from another member on here.

ive been hearing that bigger cams wont run to potential because you need the added compression. so when you mill the heads to bget the compression thats when the PTV becomes an issue and you have to flycut. im looking into the tsunami with the ls6 stage 2.5 heads myself and now i just dont know what to do. it seems like a good setup but i want it to run to its potential.

You don't need a big cam to make good power. My set is TSP Torquer V.3, Patriot 2015s, un-ported fast 90/90 with bolt on's. Stock 4L60e with 4k stall and stock 10 bolt with 3.23s at the time and this is what I dyno'd.

I will putting in a larger cam, not for more power but I just want a cam designed to spin higher and have more top end. I had Patrick G spec me out a cam and it's pretty much an MS4 on steroids. A good matched setup might not put down a whole lot on the dyno, but will perform much better on the track. You decide what you want.

Thread back from the dead.

Funny thing is that this question gets asked pretty often, so it'll save somebody from having to start a new thread.
