I drove home today, than did a random walk around, put my finger in the tailpipe and swipe out some water(!)
Is this normal?

I always get 2 wet spots (from the tailpipes) on my garage floor every morning when I start up the car.

Unless you live in an area with 0 humidity, you will get moisture from both condensation and from ingestion (got run through the engine).

Water is a by-product of burning gasoline, don't worrie about it....it's normal. If you don't want it to come out the tips drill a small hole in the bottom of the muffler.

gasoline is a hydrocarbon

the generic formula for a hydrocarbon is CH2O

the equation for the burning of a hydrocarbon, which means the introduction of 02 and heat...is this

CH2O + O2 = CO2 + H2O

basically, carbon dioxide and water (in the form of vapor)

when you turn your car off, that water vapor cools and condenses inside the exhaust.
