Default New to the LS1

hey guys, im not to new to motors, but I dont know much about the

so my name is Lou, and my friend owns a 2004 Cobra, which he is selling and buying a WS6 01-02or

he loves the cobra, but he fell in love with a white WS6 with black rims.

so he is looking to mod the LS1 pretty decent when he gets it

make it pretty damn fast but it has to be streetable.

like being able to drive it 2-3 times a week possibly for quite a bit and have it not break all the damn time, and still be a nasty strip car.

so where do we start? he is looking into heads cam intake

but ive heard they can come with the LS4 intake or something? how strong is the block? the bottom end?

ive heard 500+ horse N/A is not that bad to do and still be perfectly streetable.

should he stick with N/A or go with forced induction, Im guessing build the motor and throw some low boost like 8psi would make good power with head or head work and cams. and of course all the nescearry upgrades to go with it.

but then again, I see forced induction cars blowing up left and right sometimes

so any idea on the parts he should get? should he stick with stock displacment or go bigger?

basically I have no idea on what to tell him with this motor. any advice?

would you guys stay N/A or go forced induction. whats the best H/C/I option and the best tuner. thanks Lou

Stock short block can hold a 250 shot safely....

for about 1/2 a second. Do a search, fella. You can make more streetable power by going FI, but you can still make a nice na motor if you're willing to spend a bit of cash. I personally prefer n/a cars vs FI, but that's imo.

I see, he isnt going to throw spray at it, at all period.

so what do you guys think of the HP performance turbo kit.

its either that or the squires kit.

whats everyones personal preference. Im pretty sure he is going to go forced induction but we'll see

what do ya'll reccomend turbo or supercharger on these.

Going FI I would at least recommend changing to a forged piston. Turbo seems to be the way to go. I like the APS for front turbos, but I have seen some STS cars run hard too.

My advice to him would be..."Find someone else to help you."
