Default used ls1 cracked block

I recently bought a bare ls1 block off of ebay.
When i bought it, the seller said that the block only had a crack in the cylinder sleeve. Immediatly i assumed that it might have a crack in the block, but it was so cheap that i couldnt resist. When the block arrived through the mail a week later, it did have a crack in the block right next to the crack in the cylinder sleeve. My question is, will it even be worth it to repair the block, and how is it done.

I wouldnt even think its worth it to repair the sleeve. You can get good LS1 lbocks all day for $300-400. Thats about what it would cost to re-sleave the block. You could always make it into a bitchin coffee table. That's what id do

HAha well shizz. Id love to make it into a table, but my SUPER 3800 series 2 just started leaking massive amounts of coolant. So im most likely going to keep looking into fixing it. Ive found a cylinder sleeve for 40 bucks...

yeah i dont think its the cost of the part that the problem i think its the removing the sleeve and installing the new one. I believe they have to heat the block up and such. Kind of like a spun rod bearing. The new bearing is less than $5 but replacing it gets expensive.

It usually costs just over $2k to have one sleeved...properly with good sleeves. Most people just buy new blocks. A new LS2 block is right around $1k. Any LS1 WITHOUT good cylinders/sleeves is worthless imo.

It will cost you less to pickup a running LQ4 from a wrecked truck, and put car accessories/intake on it...than it will to repair that block and build an LS1...and it'll be way faster than the V6.

Put the block back on ebay with the coffee table pic as a suggestion on how to use it. You might get your money back, and then some.

Don't try to use it or fix it.
