Default Which VRX cam for my car?

I am getting a pullout 01 LS1 that is stock other than it has a lid, pulley and Vengeance tune in the car.

My car has a built 4L60 with 4L65 upgrades, Yank SS3600, 3.73 gears, TTS long tube headers, off road pipe, SLP 2OTL exhaust, BMR suspension, and Kenny Brown DD SFC's.
It will be stock heads with an LS6 intake and stock untouched 98 TB other than the coolant bypass.
My old setup was the stock 98 engine with a Futral FM4 (226/226 .575/.575 114+4) and went 11.9 @ 114 on mid to low 1.6 60' times. It pulled 374 rwhp.
I want to be able to drive the car around without it being a pain in the ***, but great power without having to spin the nuts off it.

I am tossing the idea of the VRX 3 and 4 mostly, but considered the 5 since the others are not much bigger than the old FM4.

Well a couple of us have suggested the VRX 3 or 4 and possibly the 5 if you want the biggest of the 3 moderate VR cams. SO I am not sure "make my own decision"

Call Ron at Vengeance and get his opinion 678 513 7105

When, in a post long ago when I was considering a Futral cam also? It sure wasn't in this post.
I emailed Ron last week and have not heard back from him yet. I know it is a really busy time for them right now and I don't want to be a pest.

Ron is a good friend of mine, I'll call him for you and send this threads link to him so he can pm you. Ron's customer service is beyond excellent. I am sure you just got lost in the shuffle or in line behind a 1000 other people.

I am don't need to talk to him right away. The engine I am getting is in a car in his shop now waiting to be built. I know it is a busy time so I am patiently waiting.
My buddy Dan is having a wicked engine built by Ron and the crew for his pewter 01 SS. I already paid Dan for it.
I just want to nail down my cam selection now. That way when the engine comes out and gets crated up to ship to me, they can toss the cam and springs in the crate as well.
I can hardly wait to ride in Dan's car when Ron gets done with it.

I just got my car back Friday after having a VRX3 installed. It's my DD and from what I can tell fo far it drives awesome! If I didn't DD my car I would have went with little bigger cam. I've been having a blast since I got my car back though, it pulls pretty damn hard at all rpm's

I am getting a cam too, but not off the shelf. Going to do a custom cam to maximize the changes that will done to my just built 402. Yeah yeah, why am I making changes ? To long of a story, but there will be a Vengeance custom cam when I'm done, and some other goodies. LOL

JG,

Sorry I must have missed your email. I do my best to answer every email that hits my inbox within 48 hours...

Given your post above I would say stick with the VRX4 camshaft. It will work very well with your combo and cause zero drivability issues once tuned correctly!! Give me a call if you want to discuss things in more detail. Ill be glad to help...

As for Dans car.... Well lets just say 600RWHP PLUS NA/Pump Gas

Well I am glad I was on the same page as your thinking Ron. I said the 3 or 4 though.

Thanks Ron. I was leaning toward the 5 but was not sure how much nastier it would be vs the 4. Since the 4 isn't much bigger than my previous cam. But then again, there is more to a cam than just the advertised numbers.

Like I said Jake, get the VRX 4 and send the PCM down to Mike. That will be a SOLID combo with your set-up. **** you felt how strong the car was with a tune, lid and catback..
