Default should i run it? (pitted piston)

dont know what happened but this is what the piston looked like after i took the head off. the engine made no knocking noise, so it must have been before i got the car. the walls look great and have no scoring at all. guess kinda the way i look at it is there is no difference between this and carbon flaking off. it is going to be a h/c/i motor and wanted it to last the rest of the year (13 race's). it is just a track car, so i wont be stranded anywhere, im just worried about my 2000 dollar heads.. whats your thoughts?
btw they are sand size pits, not massive ones.

I dont see anything? Unless your talking about the dot towards the right of the picture? If you are, thats the dot used to tell you which way top put the pistons in when building the motor.

If that is hole #7 and is on the exhaust side chances are that is detonation. I'm sure the metal is fatigued and the ring land is about shot. Hard to tell from the pics but I wouldn't chance a set of $2000 heads. Do a search on all the #7 piston failures.

OR (and my choice) it was designed that way to indicate which way the piston goes into the block. im gonna say thats a picture of bank 2 (passenger side) and the dot means its a factory piston

why not put the piston at TDC and take a GOOD picture of it? its hard to see $hit in that pic

Your photobucket settings are probably saving them to a low quality. Mess around with that. Point being that people cant really see what you are talking about obviously.

I think I see it...very top part of the piston close to the cylinder wall? About 1/43 of the piston looks to be covered with detonation marlk...yuck.

for sure detonation. I have a stocker on a rod if you need one( has been flycut .100-.100). is it #5 or #4 cant tell witch way is front. I would not run that piston

just throw a stocker in it but try to find the cause.

I blew a hole threw #1 last summer and just swapped it out and have had no problems

im going to run it this weekend and then pull it out. it is #4 piston. i know the guy before me had nitrous on it, so im sure that it the cause.

im not sure if that piston will work with what i have. mine are getting cut .100, but its not a stock head, so im not sure if the angles are right.

eather way it's not worth risking a 4 or 5 thousand dollar setup when a set of good piston head's can be found for around 800... if you chance it you could destroy your entire engine...
If it where me i replace them and not risk it.. I would never use a part that is question... if there's any thing that look's wrong chance's are it is wrong and will break if you push it to far.
