My three gauges are fuel pressure, nitrous pressure, and transmission temperature since A4.

Imo I wouldn't use aftermarket gauges unless you plan to run a power adder (nitrous or forced induction).

A tachometer that shows the actual Engine RPM not like the stock.

solve that one with a shift light/led hidden somewhere, but aimed right at your retina...if there's no bright red light aimed on my eyes, I don't NEED to shift...if there is, I do need to shift...and for normal driving, the stock tach is close enough, and subtle...not in your face/rice

In my opinion...you don't really NEEEED anything other than the stock gauges. If you're turbo, a boost/vac gauge is worth it...if you're making big power, fuel pressure is worth it...if you've got nitrous and you want to make sure the bottle will last the complete run, bottle pressure might be worth it...if you're like me and you want to put the car on air ride...a pair of dual needle air pressure gauges is worth it...oil temp can be nice because you can sorta tell when you've been a little too hard on the car (like at an auto-x) and need to let it settle down for a bit...but it's not an emergency, because even if the oil is a tad too hot...if your foot isn't in the throttle, and the engine is just idling with decent (maybe a little low due to the heat, but still some) oil pressure...it will probably survive.

If you tune the car yourself, wideband gauge is worth it...if you don't tune it yourself, it's a waste of money.

oil temp is good to have to know when you are really beating on her to take a brake and let her cool down. too high oil temp the oil looses its ability to do its job.

I think you hit the mark with the 1st two gauges.... I also run an electric Fuel Pressure, but that's only because I modified to a return fuel system with an adjustable regulator. A wideband will let you know if you're not getting enough fuel otherwise (it will go lean). Stock oil pressure gauge works good for me. Oil temp isn't high on my list of vitals either. (Can monitor that via the H2O temp).

Anyhow, that my $0.02. BTW, my mods are very similiar to yours.

The fitting above the oil filter can be removed, drilled and taped.
