Default ?'s about new cam

I a full bolt on 2000 SS Camaro 6-speed car. Has a LS6 intake and a 224/224 cam now. It is making 380 to the tire on a Mustang Dyno and 450 on the 100 dry shot.

I was looking for some advise on going to a bigger cam. A couple of friends have a 233/239 cams. Is it possible to go bigger than that and street drive it? I would like to go big as possible with out killing the MPG. Right now I am getting about 28 on my current set up. I guess I can deal with low 20's.

With going with a bigger cam does that normally mean more than .600 lift, reason that I ask is I strongly belive that the springs that I put in were only good for .600 lift.

Also will ask that going to a bigger cam will it require going to a FAST setup or something that will allow the car to breath more air?

Thanks for any help that you shine on this

bigger is not always better.... if i were you i'd go with something like the "el torro"

3016 (intake XFI lobe) 3725 (exhaust X-ER lobe)

230/230 .612/.592 LSA 111+2...

it is a comp custom grind but any vendor can order it for you...

7.425 chomoly pushrods & dual springs

it is a great cam

If the car's running good,

and you're happy with it, why change? Are you in need of more power and less drivability? If it's for the street you are probably making more average power now than the guy with the bigger cam.
The bigger stick is going to make more power only above 5,000. Is that what you want for the street?
Or are you just chasing peak numbers?
These are questions you have to ask yourself, honestly. Not to anyone here.
You want big numbers sure you can get them. Also it's possible to get the worst of the side-effects tuned out too with a good tuner, if you can find a good one easily.
The engine will need a stratospheric rpm limit with what would be a race cam. That means less reliability and parts having to be replaced pretty regularly to prevent damage.

Go for it. It's a good learning experience.

i DD my ms4 cam car...
H/C ported 90/90 410s etc etc etc...

i dont mind it too much.... but it isnt for everyone..
i have a VERY good tuner.. if you dont have an amazing tuner, DONT get a donkey dick cam.. you will hate driving your POS..

you dont need a huge cam to make good times.. you need to get the HP part of it out of your head... something like a 230/232 600 lift would suit you just fine... nice driveability and will make good power... you will benefit with a 90/90 but an ls6 will get the job done... anything ms3 or bigger i would suggest a 90/90 because you will be turning more RPMs and the ls6 quits breathing oretty quickly where the 90/90 keeps chugging along..

my next car is a zo6..... it will be my DD.. and i will probably have an ms4 in it also...

totally opinion/preference...

like ^^^^ said... its a learning experience..

Wow thanks for the info I think I am going to move up to the 233/239 cam that my buddy has, just not wanting to kill everything in swapping out my cam.
