Have you removed your AIR system, with LT's it could be the check valves need to do the restrictor mod.

No with the air system removed it should not make the fluttering noise I put in plates and drilled holes to decrease the flow to prevent check valve flutter, if your air system is removed , you can eliminate the check valves, I just saw you had longtubes and thought it might be a possiblity.
no my air system is completely out of the car. i dont know what the ticking noise is but it only does it sometimes. doesnt matter if its cold or not so i know its not piston slap. sounds to me like its coming from the oil pan. cant really hear it from under the hood. any ideas?
GM has a TSB on a ticking noise at startup/idle, i beleive they replace the oil pump oring seal, there was something about it as the seal was not letting oil pressure build up and it took it awile to build. A corvette came by our dealership that was having this problem in the moring at startup, it sounded exactly like a lifter not pumping up. So the service department put a new seal on and problem fixed. So if what you are hearing sounds like a lifter and your car is still under warranty you could get it fixed if you want.
