Do the newer C5's all run the LS6 block? I read a tech post
somewhere that basically said from 2002 up all have the LS6
block? If that is true , do they also have the Z06 pcv setup?
Anybody know about this...........?. Thanks

 

I read in one of the magazines that in 2001 and 2002 for the f-bodies roughly 25-50 percent of the cars got the ls6 block, i would assume its the same for the vettes, however the 2003's i dont know.

 

15% of 01 and 25% of 02 fbodies got the ls6 block. i can only assume there if there was plenty of ls6 blocks left over the the fbody program that its possible the y-body cars also got them. do a search for the ls6 block and you'll find into that tells you how to check, its darker in color i believe and you'll find the block number that will indicate if its an ls6 block.

to my knowledge the cars with the ls6 block still have the ls1 pcv system, they just got the ls6 block and intake.

 

GM says all 03 and up blocks are ls6 spec.

 

 

Easy to check, sort of. Look at the top edge of the block on the drivers side, just behind where the head sits. If the last four numbers are 1168, it's an LS6. I understand there may now be some additional numbers that indicate an LS6 block, but they will be higher than that (all eight numbers are visible, just see that your eight digits are higher than 12561168). The LS1 blocks were 12561166.
