98,99,00....which ls1 block to look for??

I am about to start looking for a used ls1 short block to build, and I'm wondering if there was any differences in the different year model blocks.

I had heard that the sleaves in the 98 were thinner, but other than that is there anything to look for??

would a 2002 block be better than a 99 to build?

also was there any difference in the strengths of the crank shafts. I will be using the factory crank in this engine.
