Default Swap heads or not???

Hey guys I have a 6.0 iron block (370 cu) all forged that has A.R.E. 853 ported heads. They flow 305@ 600 lift (2.02 and 1.6 valves). I have a MS3 cam on a stalled a4 3200 vig. I'm thinking of swapping heads maybe some AFR 225 or similar what are your thoughts? Will bigger heads give me a lot more HP over the ported 853's. The car is built for N2O spraying a 250 shot. If i go bigger will I lose any low end torque?

Don't know what your definition of a "lot" more power is but the thicker AFR deck would be a benefit if you ever wanna spray even more....

not necessarily the 225s would go better with a larger displacement engine ie: 408 with yours i would go with afr 205s or tfs 215s the smaller combustion chamber will give you more compression which will give you more power. but if your on a budget some good ls6s will do a nice job as well

Okay now I had one speed shop tell me get the AFR 225 over the 205's. Since I only have a 370 cu I understand what you are saying. Now I'm wondering will the 205's make more power than I'm making now with the ported 853's. I compared both flow numbers and my 853's flow 305@ 600 lift very close to the numbers of the AFR 205's

IMO go with the AFR225s..they'll work better with the 4.030" bore and you won't lose anything down low...don't believe the internet myth about bigger ports hurting low end power...

i was going to suggest that as another option, but since he's spraying a 250 shot the extra beef of the AFRs would hold up better after repeated nitrious use,IMO..

250 is peanuts, a progressive controler and studs are all that is needed.

so in your opinion would you choose the AFR 225's over the tfs 215 because of the thicker deck and me spraying 250 shot or better of N2o

TFS has a 5/8" thick deck just like AFR. But PZ has a great point. Unported L92's will beat both those heads for less $$$$. The IM selection is another matter but.......
